The Slufter (interrupted), or Design as Protest

The Slufter is a very accidental five-month research project conducted between February and May 2020 in the port of Rotterdam, in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak. The elements that encompass this project are also a direct result of the economic aftermath of the pandemic, which forced me to take a part-time job as an essential worker at the port, at a different kind of ‘contained disposal facility’, not too far away from The Slufter. All these extraordinary set of events influenced profoundly the outcome of this project, and the course of my life.
